About Good Goliath

Good Goliath is a marketing & advertising firm headquartered in Austin, Texas.

We do a lot of things pretty well. What we do best is what we (and our clients) think is most important of all - we manage marketing communications projects and wrangle creative resources. Our focus is on serving as your "virtual" marketing department. Why hire folks that you don't need? We take care of marketing...from strategy to implementation...so you can focus on the things you do well.

As we always say..."first we define, then we design."

It’s definitely no secret that about 18 months ago, Mark Peters and I shifted our focus from Good Goliath to go and start BizGreet (http://www.bizgreet.com, a platform for personalized video advertising).  We took Kelly Jackson with us, and asked her to focus about 75% of her time helping us build BizGreet, and only 25% of her time on Good Goliath.  Being involved in a startup in Austin, Texas is really exciting.  I think it’s the best way to experience the best of what Austin is…a citywide incubator for great ideas.

While working on BizGreet, we’ve also been quietly thinking about how we would revamp our agency.  How we would re-imagine what we do for clients, and even how we do it.  It’s a good exercise in building a business to extract the founders from the daily activities…the customer relationships, the daily involvement…to make the company a better, more well-rounded and high-performing entity.

So while Mark and I continue to grow BizGreet to become not only the “only” platform for personalized video on the web, but also the defacto standard for video advertising to any individual on any device, we have also put together a strategy that allows Good Goliath to move forward, to grow, and to do better work more effectively for our clients than ever before.

Kelly Jackson has assembled an extraordinarily talented project team, and we’ve been blown away by the work they have done for our clients while we’ve been away.

This year, we’ve been taking it slow, testing our model, working to find bugs or issues while serving only a small number of clients (2 to be exact).  I don’t think we’ll ever have more than 5 or 6 clients at a time.  We’ve tried that before, and frankly, we didn’t like it because we didn’t feel like we could give our clients our best.

Good Goliath is here, we are working hard, and our clients are ecstatic with the work we’re doing.  If you’re a small or medium business (between $1million and $100 million in sales), and based somewhere in Texas, you might be able to hire us to become your “virtual” marketing department.  We are premiere marketing project managers, efficient taskmasters, and see everything else (great design, smart strategies, effective tactics) as merely table stakes in the marketing world.  No marketing firm will tell you what they suck at.  We’re no different.  Every marketing firm has to do the main things well, or else there’s no basis for their existence.

So, in addition to this bulleted list of “table-stakes” work that we do well, we really strive to be excellent marketing project managers.  By focusing on how to get any marketing task accomplished efficiently, it makes us better at doing the basic tasks really well.

  • Marketing strategy
  • WordPress websites
  • SEO (search engine optimization)
  • Branding and brand-building
  • Writing
  • Graphic design & illustration
  • Social media
  • end-to-end advertising campaigns
  • video production
  • TV, radio, & billboard ads
  • BizGreet campaigns (obviously!)

We’re sticking by our mantra…“First we define, then we design.”  We will start by helping you define who you are and articulate your vision, and then devise a strategy and outline the objectives and tactics to facilitate it.
